Dear Wrestlers and Parents,
This letter is to inform you about our summer wrestling session this year. After the wrestling season, many wrestlers and parents were interested in the camp information. Some wrestlers will lift weights and wrestle during the summer, but camps can keep the wrestlers competitive, provide new technique and strategies, an opportunity to meet wrestlers from other states, and make wrestlers ready for the upcoming season. Dedication, Commitment, and Pride in ONESELF make you a better wrestler and person. But, these values must be learned through many experiences with the sport.
I have provided information for 3 wrestling camps, 1 weight training camp, summer wrestling sessions, and weight lifting sessions. I would strongly recommend attending as many of these sessions as possible and place major emphasis on getting better as an athlete. Secondly, my philosophy is if you are going to do something, then do it right the first time. The coaching staff is not here to waste your time, so don’t waste our time. The team must demonstrate the willingness to want to improve for team success. With that said, these attributes must happen for the summer camps, wrestling, and weight lifting sessions to exist.
A) To attend a camp as a team, we must have at least 10 wrestlers willing to participate in the wrestling camp. A bus will be providing transportation for athletes to camp with 10 or more participants.
B) Summer Wrestling Sessions must have 4 or more wrestlers of a common weight demonstrating a willingness to wrestle. Must have a current physical within the last year and proper equipment to attend camps.
C) If any of these summer opportunities become more like work rather than an opportunity to improve performance, the attitude must change or coaching will stop.
D) Lastly, the intent of summer wresting is:
1) An opportunity to increase your knowledge, technique, and conditioning for the upcoming season. INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION TO MEET ONE’S NEEDS.
2) An opportunity to review, examines, and asks questions on technique based on skill, procedure, and options with moves
3) A coach will be at each practice for supervision, instruction, and a reference person for wrestling
4) The summer wrestling session is supposed to be fun. It is not mandatory. It is open wrestling with the intent to become a better wrestler.
5) Sessions will consist of drilling, live wrestling, or group wrestling. Wrestlers will determine the structure of the open wrestling sessions. It is not practice. Help will be offered when wrestlers ask question.
6) Open session is NOT for horseplay or any other type of irresponsible behavior. It is an opportunity to get better. Any wrestler causing trouble will be asked to leave for remainder of the summer.
7) If wrestlers do not seize the opportunity to drill during the summer, the session will end immediately
Here is a schedule of Summer Wrestling Session.

All the information for Summer Wrestling, Weight Lifting, and Camp information is provided in the packet. Let me end with a motivational speech from Tom Brands talking about desire. I have learned, that whether you think you will succeed or fail, you have to rise to the challenge with courage. I learned that fearcan make you go back, when you should go forward; it is better to go forward. I learned that you can go HUNGRY and still be tough enough to continue... and that few people really know what HUNGER is!!! I learned that if you want something bad enough, you make it first and foremost in your thoughts and deeds. I learned that if you must face an adversary, do your homework, know his moves, and plan your strategy. I learned that your body can be tried and hurting, but you always have more to give. I learned that once you quit, it is over!!! I learned that pain passes. I learned that victory, after working hard for something, is a high to which nothing else compares. I learned that you can lose and keep your dignity; but it is so much better to WIN!!! I learned that you can go through all the correct moves in life, but for it to really be great, you must have passion, ... eye of the tiger!!! Lastly, I learned, from watching my brothers Frank and Carl, as well as all the rest, go out into the circle come what may, and return, tried, battered, whether in victory or defeat, that in this life, you must proceed with fearlessness. Plan and work hard, take the lumps, expect to win, live with passion, you are always stronger than you think, and most of all never give up!!! For when the next whistle blows, the true champion of life is ready to go another round!!!

Spearfish Camp
Dear Wrestlers and Parents,
This letter is to inform you about a Black Hills Nationals Wrestling Clinic (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) in Spearfish, South Dakota and the BFS (Bigger, Stronger, Faster) clinic sponsored by the Natrona County Coaches.
The camp will begin June 7 and 8 (Tues/Wed) at Spearfish High School. The school will provide the transportation to the camp. We will leave from NCHS at 8:15 AM on Monday, June 7. Registration is at 12:00-1:00. The 2-day camp will feature the University of Wyoming staff and wrestlers (Ethan Kyle, Travis Shufelt, Tyler Cox, Joe Leblanc).
The cost of the camp depends on Pre-registration and AAU card. $75.00 for all participants with 2011 AAU World Folk Style Tournament – 25% discount. Pre-registration through June 1 - $85.00. After June 1 and on day of check in - $100.00.
If we do not have at least 10 wrestlers going to the camp, then the camp will be canceled. The camp’s cost is relatively cheap compared to other camps. Most camps cost $300.00 to $700.00 for a week long camp. I will not ask my wrestlers or parents to spend that much money on a camp.
I am enclosing a brochure of the camp. Please fill out information and return to this address:
Mail in registrations and full payment ($85.00 or $100.00) can be sent to:
BHCR
P.O. Box 523
Deadwood, SD 57732
Please include a driver’s license number.
All registration can be done online at www.blackhillsnationalswrestling.com
All participants must have an AAU card ($12-14.00). AAU cards will be available at aausports.org.
Wrestlers will need a signed Parent’s Release Form at registration. For more information about the camp, contact Frank Pavich at 605-578-1419. Two coaches will attend the camp. If the wrestler is planning on attending the camp, have each wrestler check in with Coach Russell. Jr. High wrestlers can attend the camp, but must have a physical from the 2010 season.
In closing, the wrestlers will need a physical (last year’s sports physical will work), bedding (sleeping bag), workout gear, swimsuit, and bathroom supplies (towel). Wrestlers should team up with other wrestlers for camping gear (tent, bedding, lights). Wrestlers will get three meals per day, but extra money is needed for a meal, treats, and goodies. Please, only bring one bag of clothes and camping gear. The camping site does not have electricity. Space is needed for travel. All Jr. High wrestlers will need a physical to attend the camp. Get a physical from the AD at your school. The coaches have physicals on all high school wrestlers (9-12).
June 6, the Natrona County Booster Club will sponsor a Speed, Strength, and Conditioning. Clinic will provide the essential conditioning skills to enhance athletic performance. All athletes can benefit from this clinic and begin a conditioning program to develop strength, speed, and power. The cost of this 2-day clinic is only $5.00, which includes lunch and a T-shirt. I strongly encourage all wrestlers to attend one Wrestling Camp and the BFS Conditioning Clinic.

Chadron Camp
Dear Wrestlers and Parents,
This letter is to inform you about a wrestling camp in Chadron, Nebraska. After the wrestling season, many wrestlers and parents were interested in the camp. Some wrestlers will lift weights and wrestle during the summer, but this camp can keep the wrestlers competitive, provide new technique and strategies, an opportunity to meet wrestlers from four states, and make wrestlers ready for the upcoming season. Dedication, Commitment, and Pride in ONESELF make you a better wrestler and person. But, these values must be learned through many experiences with the sport.
The camp will begin June 19-22 at Chadron State College. The school will provide the transportation for the camp. We will leave from NCHS at 11:00 PM on Sunday. Check in is Sunday (June 19) between 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Each team will have a CSC representative for individual instruction. The cost of the camp will be $165.00 per camper over a 10-person team. $50.00 non-refundable deposit required by June 1, 2011.
Please fill out information and return to Chadron State College before June 1. Wrestlers will need a signed Parent’s Release Form at check-ins. For more information about the camp, contact Head Coach Scott Ritzen at 308-432-6299. Two coaches will attend the camp. If the wrestler is planning on attending the camp, have each wrestler check in with Coach Russell. Upcoming freshman wrestlers can attend the camp, but must have a physical from the 2008 season.
In closing, the wrestlers will need a physical (last year’s physical will work), bedding, workout gear, swimsuit, and bathroom supplies (towel). Wrestlers will get three meals per day, but extra money is needed for treats and goodies. Please, only bring one bag. Space is needed for travel. All Jr. High wrestlers will need a physical to attend the camp. Get a physical from the AD at your school. The coaches have physicals on all high school wrestlers (9-12).
